This is my passion, DJing and music plays a huge part of my life, and this book is the lessons I am learning on my Journey to Success as a DJ.

This book documents my journey as a DJ, Iv'e been djing since 1988 and particularly in the last 10 years Iv'e been really studying djing and all related subjects including music production. What Iv'e done with this book is documented my journey, so everything I have learned so far is in this book. The main reason for writing it is help other DJ's reach their goals too. I may not be exactly where I would like to be in my own career right now but I know exactly where I dream of being, I know what my goal is and how I am going to get there.

This book is going to help you! It's already helped a lot of people, well established DJ's as well as beginner dj's. With the help of my book they are learning new techniques, and new ways of doing things, like managing your music collection for instance.

The thing that amazes me is that other dj's are shocked that I am helping them, its almost like dj's shouldn't help other dj's. Well thats certainly not how I roll. I was inspired by people like Sam Divine (Defected Records) who for me started out the right way, by grafting and playing in as many places as she could. She knew she wanted to play for Defected one day and a had a clear gola of how she was going to achieve that dream. Now she is one of the biggest female DJs in the world, let alone within the Defected family.

The first part of the book is an introduction to DJing, talking about the best equipment to buy to learn on at home and which headphones you should choose, as well as other bits of advice on starting out.

Chapter 2 looks at the basics of beatmatching and the theory behind the four to the floor dancebeat.

Chapter 3 is all about managing your music files in rekordbox, itunes and using programs like mixed in key. This is one of my favourite parts of the book, and the one area that people have had the most interest in. Everyone manages their musiv files in their own way but the method that I talk about has been proving really popular.

Chapter 4 is advice on playing out Live, particularly playing the right music, at the right time, in the right venue. This is really important especially when you are given an opportunity to play out live for the first time. Think about the time of day you are playing, who the crowd is, what music is usually played at the venue you are playing for or brand and go from there.

Chapter 5 I show you how to put together the perfect mix in Ableton live using filters and fades and the mixed in key method to lift your mix throughout its journey.

Chapter 6 is all about Podcasting, which is huge in 2020. I talk about the best platforms to use to get your podcast heard and how to pull it all together.

Chapter 7 is one of the main areas of the book, the importance of being omnipresent as a DJ. There are loads of social media platforms out there that you can use to promote what you do and its super important you are on as many of them as possible. I talk about the most important sites for you as a DJ.

Chapter 8 looks in a lot more detail at Facebook, without a doubt the biggest social media platform in the world. I give tips on how to come across on the platform and how to lay out your artist page to look as professional as the biggest DJs in the world.

Chapter 9 is all about Instagram, also another huge platform, and one that takes the most work to be successful on there. Its important that you use organic growth startegies on Instagram and actually communicate with your followers, dont just focus on growing your numbers and ignoring everyone.

Chapter 10 is focused on Twitter and how best to use the platform. It acts in a totally different way to Facebook and Instagram so its important you use it the correct way.

Chapter 11 helps you manage all of your social media pages by looking at which apps you can use to save time, and to help you create the content for your pages.

Chapter 12 is Goal setting and Mind Mapping using Brian Maynes techniques to set a clear vision of what it is you are going to achieve over the coming years and months.

Chapter 13 finally we look at Live streaming, that since the covid lockdown has hit us has become huge for every type of DJ, even the biggest DJs in the world are streaming live from their homes. I also explain OBS and the best way to use it to bring out the best visuals for your stream.

So as you can see there is a lot of content in there for you to consume. Iv'e spent the last 5 years watching tons of videos on these subjects and listening to podcasts to gain all this knowledge and brought it all together in one place for you to digest.
